Referendums

A referendum is a vote.

A referendum is held sometimes to help the government make a very important decision. They ask you to vote yes or no to a question.

You have a ballot paper at a referendum. You have to put a cross against the answer that you agree with.

The last referendum was held on 23rd June 2016. Voters were asked if they wanted to remain in or leave the European Union (EU).
