Mayors and mayoral elections

Councils have different types of mayors. You can vote for some of them.

Many councils have civic mayors. They represent the council at public events but they cannot make decisions for the council. You cannot vote for these mayors.

Some councils have elected mayors. They are responsible for the day-to-day running of local services. You can vote for these mayors in a mayoral election.
